Welcome to the second episode of the Drunk Hockey Show. As should now be expected, things would get a little crazy, and crazy they did. Marshall Stevenson (@spryd) was joined by co-host “that drunk guy” Jeff Stevenson (@WWoJeff) in studio. Through the magical powers of the interwebs writer, actor and producer Jeremy Larter (@JeremyLarter) also joined in on the show, and was an integral part to our “Drunk Dial”.
The thing about Jeremy is that he wrote a great little piece on explaining the lockout, using beer. It seemed like a match made in heaven to have on the show.
Things got a little crazy after the boat race which came in at an official time of 0:47.0 which completely killed the previous record set in Episode 1. To make things fair, we went on a per guest average. Previous record was 0:24.26 and this time came in at 0:15.67…almost 10 seconds better! It will definitely be a challenge for Episode 3 which will include our first female guest host.
The drinking rules this week were a little weak. Any tweet directed at us, more commonly referred to on the show as a twitteruption, caused everyone to drink. And of course the whole show, Buffalo Rules were also in effect, yet nobody was caught. And if you don’t know what those are, consider yourself lucky…for now.
We actually did talk hockey at some points in the show. We talked about the cancellation of the Winter Classic and what it might actually mean to the NHL season for 2012-13 and beyond. Marshall ranted about the corporate crap that was the Winter Classic and how it lost its “cool factor” once it was done a second time. He also noted it was nice to see the Leafs lose a game without even playing. Did we mention that Jeremy lives in Toronto and is a (closet) Leafs fan?
Mid-way through the show, a twitteruption about our awesome shirts from the guys at Offside Gear were mentioned. You’ll be happy to know there are men’s and women’s shirts available, along with a ball cap to show your support for Drunk Hockey Show.
We pursued some thoughts on the NHL lockout having a negative effect on the attendance at minor league games, which Jeremy shot down with the 18,000+ crowd for a Hamilton Bulldogs game in Montreal the other week. Nonetheless some good conversation stemmed from it.
And of course we can’t forget about the ensuing drunk dial, that in and of itself was hilarious. And who was the target? Front man Ryan from the band Giving In…again. Jeremy put on his best improv act and had Ryan sold. We felt really bad and had to blow the play offside.
All this was in the first hour of the show. There’s still a second part of Drunk Hockey Show episode 2…thankfully not as bad as Star Wars Episode II.
